Bath Remodel at the Wilson's an Exhausting Triumph!!

Willie and Deanna Wilson left for Costa Rica and Mark Wilson decided this was the perfect time to demo and remodel the main bathroom at the Wilson casa. Luckily the Garrett/Wilson Life Group was there to back him up! Friday night Mark and Dave Garrett demoed the bathroom down to the studs (there was a mold problem), so when people started arriving to help on Saturday there was plenty of work to keep everyone busy. After working late into the night, the bathroom had dry wall up and tile down on the floor. Sunday the entire group came over and each person brought their own particular talents to the job as well as the willingness to learn something new. Those who couldn’t fit in the small bathroom watched the kids and fellowshipped together over delicious Spatola’s pizza! By the end of the night, the dry wall had been mudded, tile had been placed around the tub, and grout had been applied to the floor. There was still more to be done on this project, and different members of the group visited throughout the week to help get the work finished. Liz Garrett and Bill Evans were kept busy just about everyday with dry wall mudding and sanding, painting, and babysitting. Only a few “minor” problems were encountered during the process, but with Mark’s persistence and Dave’s plumbing know-how the issues were resolved with fantastic results. The bathroom is now completely redone and it looks beautiful! None of this could have been accomplished without the support and talent of the entire Life Group. See Willie and Deanna's reaction below...in the reveal video!

Due to the 1AM reveal (and my oh so tired brain) several names were left out in the video including Landon, Maggie, Brad, all for lending help in the bathroom, and Kristin, Charissa, Jill and Marla (Charissa's Mom) for assisting with kid duties as we worked. A special thanks to the Garrett/Wilson Life Group.

Painting at the Luttrells a DELICIOUS Success!!

Baby Owen is almost here and there were just a few things left to do at the Luttrells to be ready for his arrival, so the Garrett/Wilson Life Group brought the full force of its superior skill and intellect to address the problems.  Everyone started arriving throughout the afternoon on Sunday ??? and Landon put people to work.  On the agenda was painting Owen’s nursery and Natalie’s room.  Landon had applied the primer (many, many coats) on top of the dark navy blue paint that had previously decorated the room, so we were able to get started right away putting the beautiful sage green on the walls.  In Natalie’s room, others were busy getting the room cleared out and the walls taped.  Downstairs, the rest of the group was taking turns babysitting the kids and hanging out.  Finally, the best part of the night arrived…Kristin’s chili!!  Everyone got their fill of a huge pot of homemade chili, complete with all the fixins’ (including Fritos!).  And for desert, there were cupcakes!  These were particular favorites of the kids.  When the evening was over, there was still work to be done, so Liz Garrett and Lizzie Mynaugh came back on Tuesday to paint Natalie’s room a lovely shade of pink.  On Wednesday, Liz Garrett and Brian Maloney finished up the job with another coat of paint on the walls and trim.  We hear that Landon was so pleased with the results that he did his super secret happy dance right there in the hallway!!!  All in all, the project at the Luttrells was a huge success and we can’t wait to add baby Owen to our group.  Hopefully he likes the paint color!
